refinished. There’s hope for your home after
all. You won’t need to buy new aluminum
siding
Chalking
Anyone with older aluminum siding is well aware
of the paint- chalking problem. Just rub your
hand along the old siding and the chalky old paint
will be all over your palm.
Trying
to get paint to stick to this could be a real
problem. This is due to oxidation of the paint.
Siding manufacturers originally referred to this
problem as a "benefit". They called
it, "self cleaning", as the paint literally
washed off the house
If the siding of your home is made of aluminum
you will soon discover over time the aluminum
siding will fade, chalk and the paint will deteriorate.
Update Your Home with Color
Having the exterior of your aluminum home painted
allows you to also choose new awning, shutter,
window, door, and trim colors. Transform your
home at a fraction of the cost. By hiring a professional
aluminum siding painting and refinishing company
a typical1, 500-3,000 square foot home can be
sprayed in one day.

Quick Guide

How to Refinish Aluminum Siding
Remove any shutters, address numbers,
mailboxes, if you have them, and cut back any
shrubbery closer than 2 feet to the house. You
don’t want your landscaping to scratch up
your newly refinished aluminum siding.
Power wash and scrub the aluminum siding very
well. It is important to use an oscillating tip
while power washing for the purpose of removing
every square inch of chalk. Paint will not stick
to a chalky surface. Be sure to use a scrub brush
on a pole to get those hard to reach areas, rinse
thoroughly.
While
pressure washing the siding the paint will fade
and begin to show bare metal that’s ok.
Just make sure to rinse your aluminum siding until
no color or chalk is remaining on the surface,
allow to dry for 2-3 days before painting.
Caulk all areas that need attention around windows,
doors, corners, miters, overhangs, etc. Mask off
all unpainted areas roof, trim, concrete, foundation,
windows, doors, etc.
Apply the finish coat within 48 hours of the
primer (if primer is needed). I recommend using
an airless paint sprayer. Temperature should be
70-90 degrees; your new finish should last for
years.
